This week is National Apprenticeship Week!
National Apprenticeship Week is all about shining a spotlight on the value of apprenticeships and the real opportunities they create - for individuals, businesses, and communities. Throughout the week, organisations across the UK share stories, host events, and provide guidance to help people understand how apprenticeships can kick-start careers, build skills, and open doors to long-term success.
At Poly UP, we believe apprenticeships are a powerful way to combine learning with hands-on experience, allowing people to earn, grow, and develop confidence in real working environments. This is something we’re passionate about and keen to pursue in the future as part of our commitment to investing in people and building inclusive pathways into our industry.
For anyone considering an apprenticeship, this week is a great opportunity to explore what’s available. Candidates can get involved by attending events, learning about different apprenticeship routes, speaking to employers, and discovering how apprenticeships can fit around their ambitions and goals.
National Apprenticeship Week reminds us that talent is everywhere and with the right opportunities, people can truly thrive.

Time to Talk Day
Today is about starting conversations and breaking down the stigma around mental health - one honest chat at a time.
At Poly UP, we believe that talking really does help. Whether it’s a quick check-in with a colleague, a conversation with a friend, or simply letting someone know you’re there to listen, small moments of connection can make a big difference.
Time to Talk Day reminds us that we don’t need to have all the answers. Listening without judgement, showing empathy, and making space for openness can help people feel seen, heard, and supported.
Let’s keep the conversation going - not just today, but every day.

World Cancer Day – 4 February
Today, we stand together with the millions of people affected by cancer - those living with it, those who have survived, those we’ve lost, and the families, carers, and healthcare professionals who support them every day.
At Poly UP, we believe awareness, compassion, and collective action can make a real difference. World Cancer Day is a reminder of the importance of prevention, early detection, equitable access to care, and continued investment in research and support services.
Let’s use today to learn, share, and show support: through conversation, kindness, and action. Together, we can help build a future where fewer lives are impacted by cancer and more people are supported every step of the way.

One of the standout features of resin-bound driveways is their ability to be laid directly over existing surfaces, such as block paving, tarmac, or flagstones. This approach minimizes both time and disruption during installation, offering a wide array of design options without the need for extensive groundwork.
However, there are important considerations when opting to overlay existing driveways. For instance, block paving and flagstones may shift over time due to their own weight, potentially causing cracks in the resin surface. Proper groundwork is crucial to mitigate these issues and ensure the longevity of the driveway.

Similarly, laying resin over concrete requires meticulous preparation. While this method eliminates permeability, it offers a sturdy base if properly primed with a polymer primer. Skipping this step can lead to poor adhesion, necessitating redoing the entire process.
Newly installed surfaces also require time to settle before applying resin. Concrete surfaces, for instance, should cure for at least seven days before priming and applying resin-bound aggregate. This waiting period ensures a stable foundation for the driveway.
Tarmac surfaces, on the other hand, are suitable for resin overlay if they are in good condition and laid on a solid subbase. This approach minimizes installation time and maximizes the driveway’s durability.
In summary, resin driveways offer a flexible and durable solution for homeowners looking to enhance their property’s curb appeal. By understanding the nuances of overlaying different surfaces, one can ensure a seamless and long-lasting finish that complements any home.
